One of the things that characterizes warriors and sets them apart from others is belief. It is a “Yes, I Can” attitude toward any challenge undertaken. It isn’t ego – it’s understanding that working hard to succeed and perseverance will make the warrior successful.
Far too often, we are too quick to tell ourselves “I can’t do that”, or to listen to others and believe them when they say similar things. But if you add the word “YET” to the phrase and make it “I can’t do that – yet”, then it simply becomes an acknowledgement that perhaps at this very moment, you can’t do whatever you need to….but you are going to learn how to do it and then do it to the best of your ability.
Sometimes, we just can’t seem to get a handle on something. The warrior will step back, re-assess the situation and try a different approach, knowing that eventually success will be the outcome. One might think of it as simply climbing a flight of stairs:
The higher up the stairs you start, the easier it is to reach the top. The warrior will usually start at the fourth step, making a plan of how to accomplish the goal. Which step are you on?
