There is a line in Sun Tzu’s ART OF WAR that really describes why we train in Taekwondo:
“Hence to fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in conquering the enemy without fighting.”
Bad guys profile for victims. Whether it’s the bully on the playground or the mugger lurking in the parking lot, this is a universal truth. They look for those people who show, by their actions and body language, that they are victims.
One of the first and most important things that develops from martial arts training is confidence. Your confidence will show through, not in a cocky or aggressive attitude, but in the way you walk and talk and show awareness of the world around you. The bad guys will see this and pass you over, picking out someone else who fits the profile of an easy victim.
Taekwondo helps develop confidence and leadership. Call or visit us at West Houston ATA Martial Arts and start your journey to Black Belt.
